I currently hold a Doctorate of Education in Teacher Leadership. The purpose of my dissertation was to conduct a causal-comparative study that determined the affects of the cooperative learning strategy, Learning Together, on student achievement in Physical Science. Additionally, I have a Specialist Degree in Teacher Leadership. I also hold a Master's Degree in Literacy and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Middle Grades.

I have been teaching in the elementary classroom for 24 years. Grades taught include Kindergarten, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th. I especially enjoy teaching the upper elementary grades in the content area of Science. I have a passion for teaching my students the element of inquiry-based learning. An old adage states, "Tell me and I forget, show me and I remember, involve me and I understand." Through hands-on experiences, my students are able to achieve vocabulary acquisition, develop a deeper understanding of content, and retain the standards taught.

I love any type of water activity, traveling to Florida to visit with relatives, and absolutely enjoy a cup of coffee and a good read. One day, I hope to retire on the beach!
